I must admit I’ve always had a love for knitwear and even though I’m really a summer girl at heart, it’s one of those things (along with cozy evenings by the fire and hot chocolate) that make me anticipate sweater weather. If you share my fondness about about this winter staple just keep reading cause I’m sure you’ll enjoy this post. And while I know that talking about knits may initially conjure up the idea of boring sweaters intented purely for curling up on your couch, hibernating is definitely not the primary reason for wearing them anymore. This year both high-end and high street brands suggest wearing them from day to night and the different options available, ranging from dresses, to pants, vests, cardigans and unitards, make it so much easier to wear knits for any occasion.
The season calls for maxi knit dresses, cool co-ord sets, statement sweaters, masculine/feminine zipper-pull jumpers, tiny cardis, 70’s vibe vests and even collared polos. Colourwise, bold and neon colours can make for the perfect statement look but pastels are also in on trend. Choose from monochromatic to abstract, almost phychedelic patterns with 90’s references and from sheer weaving to chunkier yarns, and dress them up or down accordingly. I especially adore the idea of a skin-revealing cropped cardigan, like the one I’ve worn by Jacquemus that you can take from coffee date to drinks with the proper outerwear.
On the other hand, less season-oriented v-necks and neutral-coloured cable knits are of course still in the game as timeless options. Minimal classics like the breton striped high neck jumper by Totême and the structured torso-hugging cardigan by Khaite can really make an outfit look super chic, which pretty much explains why they are currently all over our Instagram feeds.
Whatever your personal style it seems that there’s a knit for every fashion scenario. That said, I’ve compiled below a few of the many choices currently available so that you can be warm and stylish at the same time this winter. And as always I’d love to know your fave so write your comment below!
Buying tip: The knit trend won’t be going anywhere this coming Spring/Summer 22 season so if you choose to invest in a fine-knitted piece like a cardigan or vest you can easily transition it to spring and extend its cost-per-wear value.
See you till next post!
