Favorite winter coat trends

Truth is that dedicating a post to coats is the least homage I can pay to this wardrobe staple for its timeless service in the female wardrobe. Whether you are a commited minimalist, a lover of the more transient trends or somewhere in-between like me, this clothing piece is really a no-brainer when it comes to combining coziness and style in a winter outfit. With all the different styles available out there, the key to picking up the right one for you is staying true to your personal style. In this post I’ll be showing you three of my favorite coat trends this season so it will be easier to find the ideal coat for you.

The oversized maxi

Looks like you borrowed this from your boyfriend’s wardrobe only he’s a time-traveller from the 80s. It’s about two times bigger than your normal size with padded wide shoulders and a straight and ideally long silhouette. This oversized coat has the ability to make a casual outfit look so hip and put-together. Side note, it looks super cool with a bare-legged base i.e. shorts or a mini dress.

The belted

A wool belted coat is such a timeless choice even more so if you decide to pick it up in a neutral shade like beige or brown. It fits pretty much any lifestyle since it can equally as well compliment an office outfit as a sporty walk-in-the-park look. And if you want to go less classic with this style you can always opt for a coloured or a faux-fur one. A pastel hue like sky blue or soft yellow would definitely bring that much needed splash of joy in your winter outfit.

The leather coat

Choose a leather coat or one in a shiny finish if you want to give that dynamic feel in your looks. It makes such a beautiful contrast with those matte wintery textures such as fuzzy mohair or rib knits. What’s more, you can always opt for for a bonded sherpa coat in case you’re looking for a cozier but equally stylish option that falls under the same category .

I’d love to know which style is your favorite so drop a comment below!
